A Civil War Saturday

The Civil War came to The San Benito Historic Park today.  What a perfect day it was.  A bit of a change in the routine for us all, off we went, leaving all the "dog kids" and Mister Kitty at home.

We learned about the clothing and period customs.

These devoted "actors" travel around the area sharing their love and interest of the period with anyone willing to listen.  We listened and learned.

We had a great day!  So did they......... David with camera at the ready is sharing some of the photos.  Enjoy the colorful event via these pictures.

The battle took place in the main street of town.

The South won this battle and pushed the northern Yankees back to their camp.
After the battle we again took to the streets to see life as it once was.  Everyone was having a great time.

I have to say again, "What a great bunch of happy people the "period people" were."  They were having fun and knew so much about the era they were representing.  It made the experience so much more enjoyable.

These guys were fun to watch.

It was time for us to leave.

What a super pleasant Day.

With a tree full of pears here at the homestead Ray suggested we do something using pears, so after we get  back home we decided that a Pear Tarte Tatin would be in order for desert.  Had some trouble with the caramelized sugar but I won in the end.... it was a delightful treat at the end of our day.  Too bad we did not get a picture of that!
